1. You can affix a UPC (Unique Product Code) on an existing UPC of a generic product.

This is the simplest way to create a unique listing on Amazon. But remember, this can be done only with a Generic product. You can’t do that with the product of a registered brand. To be sure about this, ask your supplier to supply unbranded products to you.
Pros: This process will minimize your time and money expense in terms of designing new packaging, labelling and packing the products, etc.
Cons: It will not help you in building a brand in the long run.

Another similar method is to create a multipack or bundle of products.

  • A multipack is a combo of more than one quantity of the same product.

This method of affixing UPC has following limitations-

    1. This will not help you in building a brand in the long run. If your objective is to just pocket the profit, this is a perfect method for you with minimum hassle.
    2. Once your listing on Amazon picks up, other sellers will likely make the same combos and map it on your listing, commonly known as hijacking your listing. This can easily be prevented by enrolling for Brand Registry on Amazon. To know everything about Brand Registry, Click Here.

Depending on your budget and how deep you wish to go into branding, you have the following options –

    • Level 1 into Branding: Get stickers made from any local Offset Printers in bulk. Ensure that you have only the logo of the brand and tagline. Do not include any product-specific information. This will enable you to put the same sticker on all your products.
    • Level 2 into Branding: The second is to brand the product at the manufacturing level only. For this, you will have to coordinate with your supplier to print your name or incorporate your logo into the product. Most likely, the supplier will ask you to order a MOQ (Mini Order Quantity) and ask for some advance payment. This is fine if your supplier is genuine and you have been working with him for some time.To understand how to deal with a new supplier like a pro, Click Here.

To get you more excited about branding, let me disclose that Amazon gives certain advantages to registered brands on Amazon through its Brand Registry Program, including the ability to upload additional attractive content in the description, known as A+ Content, and prevention from infringement of the brand name on the Amazon marketplace.
I also recommend you to get your brand registered with the Government of India, once you are confident that your business is going in the right direction and obviously when your pocket allows. This will prevent possible infringement issues once your brand gets going.
